SPEECH AND COMMUNICATION


This course aims to:

  • introduce students to various components, and their related functions, in the model of communication
  • explain verbal and non-verbal means of communicating, which includes barriers of communication
  • enable students to formulate various speech structures with effective use of language styles
  • guide students to present speeches rhetorically


OBJECTIVE:
Successful students in this course can:

  • outline the universal theories pertaining to speech communication
  • apply appropriate attitudes for speaking in particular communication situation
  • portray competence in the preparation of speech texts
  • conceptualize, plan and deliver a short public speech
